If you have recently been in a car accident, we can examine your neck and spine to determine if you have any resulting injuries.
Auto Accident Injuries- Car accident can cause numerous problems with the spine and neck even if you have no external signs of injury.
Herniated Discs- A herniated disk refers to a problem with one of the rubbery cushions (disks) between the individual bones (vertebrae) that stack up to make your spine. Issues with the spine can arise and you might not even know it. During a car accident for example, individuals are bounced between their seatbelts and the seat backs and this can frequently cause arm and leg pain, numbness or tingling, and weakness. Fortunately, most of these ailments can be fixed with consistent chiropractic care, and not with surgery.
Sciatica- Herniated or bulging discs can put pressure on the sciatic nerve. The sciatic nerve is a long nerve that runs from the base of the spine through the buttocks and down the legs into the feet. Sciatica can cause pain in the lower back, legs and feet.
Spinal Stenosis- Spinal stenosis occurs when the pathways housing the nerves narrow. This causes the nerve to become compressed and irritated. Spinal stenosis can be agitated during a car accident because injuries to the muscles and soft tissues in the back cause inflammation, which further compresses the nerve.
Whiplash- Car accidents are notorious for causing whiplash. When a car impacts another car or an object, the car abruptly stops. Unfortunately, your body remains in motion until all of the excess energy dissipates. This causes the head to forcefully bounce against the headrest and jerk forward as far as the cervical vertebrae, ligaments and muscles allow. This misaligns the cervical vertebrae and stretches all the muscles, ligaments and tendons far beyond their normal range of motion. Symptoms of whiplash include severe headaches, migraines, neck stiffness and pain in the neck and upper back. In extreme cases, individuals can even experience tingling and numbness in their arms.
Here at Bartell Chiropractic Life Center, we offer chiropractic adjustments and spinal retraining for musculoskeletal injuries suffered after a car accident. We understand that when you get into a car accident, you want to return to your normal life as soon as possible. That is why we offer natural, non-invasive treatments for back and neck injuries.
Chiropractic Adjustments- Chiropractic adjustments are very effective at realigning the vertebrae in the spine. They can help with back and neck pain, whiplash, herniated discs and spinal stenosis. Chiropractic adjustments help reduce inflammation, and they help the nervous system function more efficiently.
Spinal Retraining- We offer a unique therapeutic exercise program that helps retrain the muscles in the spine to better support and stabilize the vertebrae. These exercises are designed to strengthen weak muscles and some can even be performed at-home so that you can improve your wellness between appointments.
